At Cherwood House our kitchen is run by Claire Thurlow and Julie Brown.

Claire has been at Cherwood House since February 1994 starting as a kitchen assistant and is now our catering manager.

Claire’s deputy catering manager is Julie Brown, who started working parttime in 2009, then became full time in 2017.

Both are qualified in NVQ Level 3 catering.

Our kitchen team consists of fourteen members of staff – all trained to a minimum Level 2 in Food Safety for catering.

Our aim is to provide our residents with fresh nutritious, tasty homecooked foods with focus on using local suppliers where possible. – our menu changes daily Please ask for a copy of our daily menu

At Cherwood House we celebrate special dates in the calendar such as St Georges Day, St Patricks Day, the King's birthday - with traditional dishes being served on that day.

Each residents’ birthday is celebrated with a cake and a rousing chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ sang to them from staff and residents alike.

We are lucky enough to have a public bar, which is perfect for birthday parties, anniversaries and any special events – all tastes catered for.

Our catering team focuses on our residents’ like and dislikes – our aim is to provide a fine dining experience for each individual to make each of our residents feel special, cared for and well fed!

Our catering manager and her deputy liaise very regularly with our senior nurses and management team to ensure all dietary requirements and individual choices are met.

Our kitchen is regulated and receives regular updates from the environmental health office who has given our service a rating of 5 (Scores on the Doors) the highest rating possible.
